Emergency LOLER Inspection

If a scheduled LOLER inspection has been missed, failed, or delayed, the consequences can escalate quickly. Lifts may be taken out of service, users may be disrupted, and legal compliance may be put at risk.

An emergency LOLER inspection by ILECS provides rapid, independent support when you need it most, helping you restore compliance, minimise disruption, and keep your lifts operating safely.

Avoid disruption, stay legally compliant & keep your lift running safely with an emergency LOLER inspection.

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) require duty holders to ensure that their lifts are thoroughly examined at regular intervals by a competent person. Unfortunately, it may not always be possible for an inspector to complete their examination on the planned date if the lift is out of service or unavailable at the time.

In this scenario, an ILECS lift consultant can attend the site at short notice to conduct a thorough examination of your lifting equipment, ensuring that you remain compliant with your legal responsibilities.

ILECS lift consultants are independent and impartial, with the technical knowledge and practical experience to conduct thorough LOLER examinations. This independence gives you confidence that findings are accurate and defensible.

Independent Emergency LOLER Inspections for Lift Compliance

Maintaining lift compliance is not just about keeping equipment in service. It is also about ensuring that every lift receives a valid thorough examination by a competent person within the required timeframe. When that process is interrupted, an emergency LOLER inspection can help prevent unnecessary downtime, support legal compliance and give duty holders confidence that the lift has been examined properly.

As independent lift consultants, ILECS provides impartial emergency LOLER inspections without the conflict of interest that can come from contractor-led reporting. Our consultants have the technical knowledge and practical experience to carry out LOLER thorough examinations accurately, clearly and defensibly. This gives building owners, facilities teams and duty holders a reliable route back to compliance when urgent inspection support is needed.

What we commonly get asked…

As independent lift and escalator consultants, we regularly get asked the following questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, feel free to get in touch to ask a member of our team.

What is LOLER?

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998, commonly referred to as LOLER, are essential regulations in the UK that focus on the safety and maintenance of lifting equipment. LOLER requires duty holders to ensure that their lifting equipment is safe to use, properly marked, and regularly inspected by a competent person.

What’s the difference between a LOLER inspection and an emergency LOLER inspection?

There is essentially no difference between a standard LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) inspection and an emergency LOLER inspection.

We use the term “emergency” to describe situations where there is an immediate and pressing need for a LOLER inspection to be carried out urgently. This typically arises when the LOLER inspector is unable to attend or the lift is out of service at the time of their visit, and they are unable to return to complete the inspection at short notice.

In such cases, an emergency LOLER inspection can be commissioned to ensure the continued safety and compliance of lifting operations.
