At ILECS, we encourage all our team members to keep learning, both in and out of the workplace. Professional development is an important part of what we do, as when it comes to our business, we always aim to ensure that we maintain as complete knowledge as is possible about the evolving technology, standards, designs and processes surrounding lifts and escalators.

The Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA) is the trade association and advisory body for the lift and escalator industry, with a membership covering 85% of the lift and escalator industry. It offers members access to a range of courses to broaden skills and increase understanding of lift and escalator engineering. These modules are designed by, and for, the lift and escalator industry to promote up-to-date knowledge of British and European standards, as well as offering specific areas for development such as stairlifts, escalators and moving walks, and hydraulic lifts.

Our team has been hard at work on their LEIA qualifications. On completion of the distance learning courses, participants gain a Certificate of Unit Achievement issued by LEIA. We’d like to congratulate the latest group of ILECS staff undertaking LEIA training on their most recent achievements –

  • Clare Gant, Abi Hanger and Sophie Scott for passing stage 2 of their LEIA Basics of Lift Technology course.
  • Jake Hearn, Chris Blowers, Kirsten Kalaher, Leona Tuckwell and Robin Tomaselli for passing stage 1 of their LEIA Basics of Lift Technology course.
  • Patrick Foudy, Patrick Garrity and Carl Snell for passing their LEIA Escalators and Moving Walks course.
