We are thrilled to sponsor the University of Essex's Basketball team, Essex Rebels, ahead of their 2023/24 season. The Essex Rebels compete at an elite national league level in basketball and volleyball, training at their base at the University of Essex.
To mark the occasion, we spoke to ILECS Director, Carl Snell, to discuss the motivations behind this sponsorship and determine what this affiliation means for the company.
Why Choose the Essex Rebels?
Part of the desirability behind becoming Bronze Sponsors of the Essex Rebels, is its strong ethical focus on enhancing the lives of those in its surrounding community, hosting activities that engage and aim to inspire young people.
Carl said, 'It's great to support local teams, especially when they're up and coming. In the past, we have supported the local rugby club, cricket club, karate academy, and local women's football team. So we are varied in our approach to supporting local sports teams and giving back to the community that way. We're based in the Manningtree / Mistley area, so Essex-based teams are our focus as they directly impact the community in which we sit.'
What does the sponsorship entail?
As a result of our sponsorship of the Essex Rebels, we receive an excellent package and great brand exposure throughout the basketball season, and our logo features on match day branding, websites and printed collateral. We are fortunate to receive four regular season tickets for staff or clients to attend home games, and unsurprisingly we have already received a great deal of internal interest for the season tickets!
Carl continues, 'We look forward to attending some games once the season starts. I personally attended a game recently and the atmosphere was great; it was a really nice day out. We are also thankful to receive opportunities to meet with other team sponsors and like-minded businesses that have come together to support the community.'
We wish the team all the best in their upcoming season and can't wait to see them in action! #WeAreRebels
